Position Summary
The main duties and responsibilities of the
Senior Land Surveyor are supervising assigned survey projects in the day-to-day operations, project management, scheduling, budgeting, quality management and safety. In addition, the Survey Land Surveyor will be directly involved in developing and maintaining excellent client relations by attending meetings, seminars and other events as required. The minimum requirement to be considered for this job is to have a current California Land Surveyor License in good standing with the board.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage and contribute to production of various types of surveying related to infrastructure and land development projects with tasks including, but not limited to: Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Right of Way Surveys, Terrestrial and Mobile Laser Scanning, Legal Descriptions, Horizontal and Vertical Control Networks, Aerial Mapping (fixed wing and drone), Construction Staking, As-built Surveys and Mapping, GIS services and various other mapping exhibits.
- Assesses project requirements, while developing/recommending a sound approach or application to meet the needs of the client and ensuring that project deliverables satisfy project requirements.
- Prepares and/or reviews proposals, price quotes, subcontractor expenses, budgets, and invoices.
- Manages and enhances project quality by providing ideas and suggestions to the team aimed at improving the effectiveness of their role, and of the project activities in general.
- Participates in corporate initiatives to meet the company's goals for sales, profitability, quality and safety.
- Supervises and provides QA/QC on assigned survey deliverables and calculations.
- Performs other incidental and related geospatial duties as required.
Qualifications
- Must be a California Professional Licensed Land Surveyor (PLS)
- Bachelor's Degree and/or 6 years of survey experience is required
- Minimum of 5 years as a Geospatial Project Manager is preferred
- Project experience in public utilities and Transportation industry is preferred
- Must have extensive knowledge working with Trimble field equipment and Trimble office software
- Comprehensive understanding of the California Land Tenure system and boundary adjustments
- Working knowledge of production processes in AutoCAD Civil3D and Trimble Business Center (TBC)
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
- Must have developed the following skills; leadership, oral and written communication skills, planning, team work, decision making, judgment and problem solving
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record required
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit
- Frequently/continuously reading and watching personal computer monitors
- Frequently/continuously utilizing a computer keyboard and input device such as a mouse or trackball
- Regional travel could be required
- Position requires a dedicated home office and workstation with high-speed internet to accommodate remote work and collaborative virtual meetings. Computer workstation resources provided by GSi.
