SUMMARY: The Housekeeper/laundry aid is responsible to keep the facility clean, safe in accordance with current federal and state standards and comfortable manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures. Assure that water marks are removed from fixtures.
Will be required to wash and dry linens and replace them on the beds.
Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.
Clean floors, to include sweeping, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting in accordance with proper safety precautions.
Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.
Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/ disinfecting solutions.
Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.
Discard waste/trash into proper containers in accordance with established sanitation procedures and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.
Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored while working, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, mealtimes, and end of the work day.
Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
Use protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids.
Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and recreational areas.
Perform complete cleaning procedures, as instructed, when a resident is discharged or transferred to another room.
Coordinate routine isolation procedures with nursing services.
Follow established safety precautions when perfuming tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
Assure that equipment is cleaned and prepared for use by the next shift.
Keep supervisor informed of supply needs and equipment needing replacement. Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed.
Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to the housekeeping supervisor. Report all accidents/incidents to the housekeeping supervisor.
Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rights.
Attend housekeeping department meetings as directed.
Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as scheduled or as directed.
Follow established fire, disaster, and evacuation policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Housekeeping and the Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Long term care experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
