BIRNS, Inc., is a leading high-tech manufacturer in West Ventura County and supplier of high-performance underwater connector and lighting systems to the Military, Marine, and Nuclear power generating industries. We are seeking an experienced, preferably J-STD-001 certified Termination Technician II, for Electro-mechanical assembly, to assemble, solder, terminate and test complex cable and wire assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electromechanical products.
Overview of Responsibilities: These will include measuring, cutting, soldering and crimping multi-strand cables to electrical connectors, assembling lighting products, performing preliminary quality control inspections, and any other related work.
Reading work orders, drawings, and manufacturing procedures.
Installing electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using soldering equipment and hand tools.
Performing in-process quality control check; records quantity of, and reasons for, any rejected parts.
Analyze and record test results, and prepare written testing documentation.
Provides support as needed for other factory requirements, e.g. molding, Quality, warehouse, etc.
Education & Requirements:
J-STD-001, IPC-610 and/or WHMA-A-620-A certifications are highly preferred.
Have a high-school diploma or equivalent.
3-5 years directly relevant electrical/mechanical assembly experience in a high tech manufacturing environment.
Has the ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams/electrical schematics blueprints, drawings and instructions in English.
Fiber-optic or electro-optical experience and/or ANSI/TIA/EIA-455 certification is preferred.
Will work with a small, dynamic production group and support staff, building for speed, quality and continually interact with others as a contributing member of a close-knit team. Must have the drive to complete jobs efficiently, and are profit-minded and dedicated.
