Krekow Jennings is hiring for the position of Service Foreman. The service foreman interfaces with customers, troubleshoots and identifies problems, defines work scopes, consults resources, gathers materials, coordinates subcontractors, sets schedule and is able to supervise and execute field work to meet goals and objectives established by Krekow Jennings and its customers. Draws upon resources from KJ at large and its affiliated subcontractor and supplier base. Specific assignments are allocated by the service manager.
The ideal candidate for this job is a high-level residential carpenter who enjoys working alone or with minimal supervision. Is a professional who leaves no evidence of their presence except for a solved problem and a customer who is happy you provided a professional experience.

Requirements
Coordinate Work: 30% of time
- Meet with customers, subcontractors, consultants and/or architects to discuss and document nature of problems and expectations related to their home, building, tenant improvement, or other built facility
- Evaluate nature of problem and customer expectations, consult available resources as needed, and advise customers on possible general solutions
- Develop work scopes, sequencing, and general work schedule to reach desired solution.
- Identify appropriate subcontractors and suppliers and solicit and evaluate bids from them to perform work
- Schedule self-perform and subcontractor activity in an efficient manner to fulfill customer goals and expectations
- Monitor and maintain status of customer maintenance contracts using database application to assure that commitments are accurately met on a timely basis, and that we are delivering best value to our customers
Execute Work: 60% of time
- Supervise work performed by subcontractors and suppliers using construction knowledge to ensure that it meets project needs and expectations
- Apply construction knowledge and skill to self-perform certain scopes of work as determined in work plan
- Assure that assignments are met with quality, safety, budget, and schedule expectations by applying construction knowledge and skills and a thoughtful, problem-solving approach
- Respond quickly to occasional customer emergencies to minimize or eliminate damaging impact to their property
- Monitor and maintain KJ service tools, service van and other service property to keep it fully functional
- Respect customer's property and privacy with sensitivity to avoid damage and conflicts
Report: 10% of time
- Maintain written daily log in KJ Service format to document daily activity and activity associated with other individuals and subcontractors under direct supervision
- Provide written or verbal summary to service manager on a weekly basis via scheduled staff meetings and more frequently as needed regarding status of assigned activity to assure that established procedures are followed, commitments are being met, appropriate resources are accessed, and productivity is maintained
- Create and transmit by email or phone, timely summaries to customers describing progress of ongoing activity
- Complete and submit timecard, purchase orders, and credit card receipt paperwork using standard KJ protocol so that others can track activity through accounting systems
- Summarize and describe nature of periodic construction problems encountered in the field for review and discussion with KJ site supervisor staff at periodic monthly meetings to increase KJ general knowledge of post construction activity problems and to develop construction best practices
May occasionally be called upon to attend to emergency situations outside of normal work hours.
Safety:
- Maintain CPR, fork lift, boom lift, first aid, fall protection and any other required job specific certifications
- Acquire OSHA 10 certification
- Enforce safety policies
- Assist with site safety audit processes to ensure compliance and corrective actions
- Inspect work in progress and upon completion for adherence to safety regulations and practices
- Demonstrate considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Assist in documentation of safety violations and accidents
