Job Description:
Oversees and coordinates the activities of a designated survey team, providing the necessary resources and technical expertise for various surveying tasks. Ensures the successful completion of projects, adhering to commitments made to clients, staying within the designated timeframes and budgets. This role also involves managing multiple concurrent projects and bringing work into the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise:
- Conduct research related to property deeds and mapping.
- Perform fieldwork for telecommunications-related surveys.
- Carry out tasks related to construction site measurements and marking.
- Engage in fieldwork for land and boundary surveys, including adjustments to property lines.
- Utilize geographic information systems (GIS) data and aerial imagery from diverse sources.
- Analyze property lines and easements using software tools to interpret surveys and descriptions.
- Draft descriptions for various legal documentation.
- Create contour maps and set points for construction activities.
- Prepare various types of survey documents, including land title surveys, boundary retracements, and topographical layouts.
- Stay current on advancements in technology to enhance services and attract new clients.
Leadership & Communication:
- Maintain strong and positive client relationships throughout the duration of a project, from initial discussions to completion.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to team members to enhance technical skills.
- Lead by example, fostering a positive environment for project teams and within the office.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders, including sub-consultants, clients, government representatives, and others.
- Demonstrate the ability to make timely decisions, explaining rationale clearly and including relevant team members in the decision-making process.
Operations:
- Project Coordination: Efficiently assign team members to tasks to meet project goals, deadlines, and budgets. Ensure that established processes for project management quality control are followed.
- Risk Management: Evaluate risks at every stage of a project, from initial assessments to contract negotiations and ongoing development.
Client Interaction:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, particularly for key accounts.
- Maintain positive relationships and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Address any issues that arise, including contractual or sensitive matters, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 10+ Years of land surveying experience; PLS preferred
- Proficiency in office software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Familiarity with design and drafting software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Experience with surveying and data management tools (e.g., Trimble Business Center).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational abilities, with a focus on project management.
- Hands-on experience with surveying equipment, including total stations and GPS tools.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and team members.
- Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability.
