Job Overview And Responsibilities
Director of Corporate Real Estate (CRE) Planning and Strategy will will lead and mentor internal planning staff, oversee the development of airport master plans in collaboration with airport planning teams, retrieve and provide guidance on benefit-cost analysis proposed investments, analyze gate and terminal layouts, and manage on-call aviation planning services. You will develop, recommend and manage long-term plans to implement company's strategic objectives and support for CRE Senior Leadership and teams in general planning tasks. You will support CRE and other United business unit Managing Directors, Directors and Project Management teams through planning, data analysis, and recommendations - and oversee the Gate Safety Council and safety guidelines.

- Strategic Planning - Leads the development of airport master plans or represents United in the development of Airport Master Plans, United support and operational space master plans, feasibility studies, land/easement acquisition services, aviation planning services, and support for Corporate Real Estate
- strategic recommendations to meet long-term company objectives for network growth
- Gate Planning - Leads team that oversee terminal and gate planning studies to develop technical analysis and provides recommendations for aircraft movement areas including gates, remote parking and hangar layout and parking through interpretation and analysis highly confidential and strategic network planning data for mid to short term network planning, gate plot, new aircraft arrivals, as well as overall terminal space planning
- Reviews updated schedules for new AC/Fleet roll outs and gate requirement changes
- Oversees the management of projects and contracts for gate layout and striping efforts for gate apron envelopes
- CRE Safety - Oversees the CRE safety team working to integrate CRE into the broader United Corporate Safety SMS initiative
- Oversees the management of central repository for system-wide gate plans and exceptions, Leads Gate Apron Safety Committee (47-5 Compliancy) and leads team that analyzes gate layouts for compliance of United's safety and regulatory standards
- Manages the development of the CRE SMS handbook and manual
- Oversees the training of CRE staff in SMS
- Coordinates with cross divisional United Safety teams to ensure proper management of SMS as mandated by the FAA
- CRE Baggage Strategy - Manages the team responsible for developing long term plans for baggage systems across the United Airlines network
- Coordinating with Network Planning to translate long term schedule growth into baggage system needs
- Overseeing the collaboration with cross-divisional partners and CRE project mangers to develop baggage system improvement plans across the network
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Aviation Management and Planning
- 12+ years of related work experience require
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience managing others
- Meets project metrics within approved business case cost and scope
- Long term capital improvement planning of major assets, facilities, and infrastructure within assigned region/program
- Lead effective teams by combining strategic thinking, business acumen and development of team members
- Experience in Aviation
- Experience managing a team of direct reports
- Direct experience developing Master Plans, complex airfield simulations and other Planning, Design and Construction Experience working either for a consultant, airport authority, air large airline
- A combination of experience totaling 10 years is acceptable
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
- This role is based in Newark and follows a 100% onsite work schedule
- Travel up to 25% for meetings, conferences, and business-related engagements is required
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
The base pay range for this role is $155,895.00 to $212,410.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
