Job Overview:
Builoff Surveying and Mapping, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Assistant / Associate Manager to support our operations team. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate or a professional with up to 3 years of experience in land surveying, engineering or a related field. The role offers exposure to a wide range of technical, administrative, and client-facing activities in the land surveying and mapping industry. You’ll work closely with senior staff to help manage projects, support client coordination, maintain workflow organization, and contribute to marketing efforts as you grow into an operations leadership role.
Responsibilities:
- Project Support: Assist in coordinating daily operations for survey and mapping projects. Track progress, help manage deliverables and support internal communication to keep projects on schedule.
- Administrative Operations: Help manage job documentation, file organization, project databases, and remote workflows. Ensure smooth communication and scheduling between office and field teams.
- Client Coordination: Respond to client inquiries and assist with proposal preparation, estimates, and follow-ups. Participate in drafting professional emails and project correspondence.
- Document Review: Assist in reviewing survey plans, maps, and deliverables for accuracy and consistency before submission, with guidance from licensed surveyors.
- Marketing Support: Contribute to social media, website updates, and proposal content. Assist with maintaining client contact lists and identifying outreach opportunities.
- Learning and Development: Gain hands-on experience in technical workflows, business operations, and marketing for land surveying. Receive mentoring and structured growth toward greater responsibilities.
- Process Improvement: Identify and suggest areas where workflows and systems could be improved or streamlined using technology or better coordination practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field (required).
- Experience: 0–3 years of experience in land surveying, geomatics, or related architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) fields. Internship or academic project experience in surveying or mapping is a plus.
- Software Skills: Exposure to CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D), GIS platforms, or surveying tools (Trimble, Leica, drones, LIDAR) is a plus. Familiarity with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and communication tools (Zoom, Slack, Trello, etc.) preferred.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to professionally interact with clients, vendors, and internal staff.
- Organizational Skills: High attention to detail, ability to track and manage multiple tasks, and willingness to follow up proactively.
- Motivation: Eagerness to learn the technical and business aspects of land surveying. Strong work ethic and willingness to grow into a leadership role.
- Location: Must be available to work on-site at the Los Angeles office during the onboarding and training period. Following training, occasional in-person attendance at the Los Angeles office will be required for periodic meetings and check-ins.
- Certifications: LSIT or intent to pursue LSIT/PLS is a plus but not required.
Compensation:
- Salary: Estimated range $55,000 – $70,000 per year, depending on education, skills, and experience.
