JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for implementing consistency with pricing when calculating equipment, vendor & labor estimates for customers to deliver & guarantee equitable company revenue streams.Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a competitive bid for HVAC projects
- Analyze blueprints and site conditions to develop cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects
- Determine manpower requirements (union environment) to meet project schedules
- Determine HVAC material and equipment requirements to meet project requirements
- Ensure materials, equipment and personnel required for all tasks meet the critical path requirements of the customer
- Obtain Subcontractor quotes for areas where SCFS will not self-perform work
- Obtain competitive equipment and material quotes
- Identify Safety plans: permit and bond requirements are included in the bid
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk or improve schedules. Maintain and surpass project profitability requirements
- Work closely with the Sales and Project Management Team to collaborate on project approach and management
- Ensure all Bid Documents are complete. Review bids with Project Management.
- Facilitate project turn-over meeting with Project Managers after successfully winning a Bid
- Manage time to be able to bid multiple projects simultaneously
- Regular attendance and timeliness
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES:
- Current knowledge of Mechanical industry standards and codes.
- Able to interpret construction plans and specification.
- Current knowledge of HVAC piping, sheet metal ducts, VRV applications, boilers, chillers and refrigeration systems is required
- Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC controls, BAS systems is a plus
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems from major refrigerant companies is desired (Carrier, Trane, JCI, Daiken and Hussman)
- Strong work ethic & extremely detail oriented
- Experience working both independently and in team-oriented, collaborative work environments
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to work closely with customers, General Contractors and Project Managers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in Bluebeam
- Proficient in Trimble AutoBid
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Commercial and Applied HVAC construction estimating
- Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings
- Demonstrated ability with commercial estimating software
