Hamel Contracting is seeking a skilled and motivated Multi-Trade Construction Worker to join our team! In this role, you’ll put your craftsmanship to work on a variety of hands-on construction and maintenance projects, tackling everything from painting and carpentry to drywall. Key Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry tasks including framing repairs, trim installation, and hardware replacement.
- Complete drywall work, including hanging, taping, mudding, patching, sanding, and texturing.
- Prepare, prime, and paint interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
- Assist other skilled trades with general labor, prep work, and materials handling.
- Operate and maintain power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and other construction equipment safely.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and properly dispose of jobsite debris.
- Follow all site safety rules, wear required PPE and participate in safety meetings.
- Accurately complete daily timecards.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance, adhering to assigned work schedule and punctuality standards.
- Demonstrates a collaborative and respectful approach to working with colleagues, contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- All other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in construction trades, including painting, carpentry, and/or drywall.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Working knowledge of basic construction methods and building materials.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Eligible to work on public works job sites (background screening may be required).
- Proficiency in project management and construction software, such as Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, or Autodesk.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires primarily physical work, including standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
- Repetitive motion is required, including substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
- The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
- Work is performed on active construction/public works sites, with exposure to dust, noise, outdoor weather conditions, and heights.
- Must wear company-issued personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all Cal/OSHA and company safety rules at all times.
Working Hours
Non-exempt employees’ hours may vary depending on the needs of the job. Must be available to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite. May also be required to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate the needs of the project.
Work Location
HQ is located in Murrieta, CA; however, job sites vary across southern California, include but not limited to San Diego County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, Orange County, Palm Desert, and Los Angeles County.
Working Conditions
This position operates on construction sites, which may involve exposure to hazards such as noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
