Downstream Services, Inc. is a family owned and operated, general engineering contractor that specializing in the assessment, maintenance and rehabilitation of stormwater, wastewater, and underground utility systems.
We are seeking a Superintendent to lead, direct and coordinate the work of field employees, subcontractors, and vendors within our Collections Department. Scopes of work include CCTV inspection and pipeline condition assessment, hydro-jetting and vacuum cleaning, and emergency services; including, bypass pumping and spill containment. The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work performed and adherence to project budgets. Training on Company products, processes, safety procedures, techniques, and specialty equipment will be provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee and make decisions related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and employee staffing.
- Oversee work and coordinate project operations. Resolve problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment schedule and all other appropriate matters.
- Collaborate with Safety Manager and oversee training of field crews and maintain employee development plans.
- Supervise and develop Foreman and field crews, as assigned, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.
- Create schedules and determine sequencing of work. Develop and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
- Assist with review and approval of field time sheets, daily reports, and safety paperwork for compliance.
- Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
- Attend Department Progress Meetings and Scheduling Meetings.
- Ability to travel and accommodate extended hours, alternative shifts (night or weekend) as needed.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED, ****required****
- 7+ years experience planning and implementing the construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, and repair of underground utilities, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, ****required****
- 5+ years experience operating heavy equipment in the construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, and repair of underground utilities, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, ****required.****
- 5+ years of field supervisory experience as superintendent, foreman, or crew lead, ****required****
- Valid Class A/B commercial driver license ****required****
- OSHA 30-hour certification (or willing to obtain within 90 days)*****
Skills and Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Strong equipment operation skills and ability to train others
- Ability to use smart phone/tablet/laptop and supported software (ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word)
- Ability to read, understand construction plans, specs, and project schedules
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labor under in field conditions
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record
