General Manager (DOT)
$110,000 to $130,000 PLUS Bonus

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading all aspects of DOT transportation operations including CDL A driver supervision, federal, state and local lawful operating compliance, equipment maintenance and operational safety and compliance. This position will ensure adherence to all quality assurance programs, develop leadership skills in self and direct report team, while creating a safe working environment.
Essential Functions General Manager (DOT):
· The primary responsibilities of this role will be to lead, manage and develop a team of over 100 CDL A drivers in the transporting of retail product in a dedicated contract business and take hands-on accountability for daily operations.
· Manage and coordinate overall DOT transportation activities to include but not limited to driver shortage, fluctuations in business volume
· Create continuous improvement plans and strategies to support peak season.
· Manage Class 8 fleet and equipment repair and regular maintenance through the service provider. Ensure equipment availability or source rental equipment.
· Execute administrative duties, including but not limited to payroll, reporting.
· Coordinate CDL A Driver schedules, routes, drive time and down time.
· Actively work towards improving productivity and efficiency.
· Ensure all deliveries are made according to Standard Operating Procedures.
· Ensure transportation operations are in compliance with all lawful and company safety requirements/policies.
· Confirm Drivers are in accordance with Department of Transportation "DOT" regulations (Drug and Alcohol Policy, hours of service, etc)
· Interact with and assist other departments to accomplish efficient and timely delivery.
· Investigate damages, accidents and other transportation related issues.
· Maintain accurate and complete departmental records.
· Other duties as assigned.
Our Preferred Candidate for General Manager (DOT) will have:
· Four year college degree or equivalent experience.
· Minimum of 5 years of transportation, supply chain or logistics experience.
· Strong leadership skills with ability to coach and develop associates into an effective, highly motivated, results oriented team.
· Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude.
· Working knowledge of onboard computer systems.
· Demonstrated knowledge of FMCSR/DOT regulations and OSHA rules.
· Ability to develop and execute budgetary items for department.
· General accounting and/or payroll experience required.
· Routing experience required.
· Basic skill with Windows based computer systems required.
· Creative problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate multiple solutions to make sound decisions.
· Effective interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate and influence for positive outcomes.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to prioritize workload and thrive in a fast paced environment.
