Role Description The Construction Estimator is a full-time, on-site role located in Roebuck, SC. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects, managing the pre-construction process, and ensuring project budgets align with client expectations. Value of construction ranges from $500k-50m, with a heavy focus on Design-Build delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, submit, and present accurate project estimates to owners, ensuring clarity in scope, costs, and timelines.
- Strong emphasis on design-build delivery method. Ideal candidate should be able to perform conceptual budgets with minimal plans and specs.
- Analyze historical cost data to produce accurate conceptual budgets.
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and clients.
- Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to develop competitive and comprehensive bids for commercial and industrial projects.
- Coordinate with government officials, design professionals, and other project stakeholders to gather necessary information and prepare precise project estimates.
- Identify labor, material, and time requirements for potential projects to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers, ensuring that materials and services are obtained at the most cost-effective rates without compromising quality.
- Actively participate in the pre-construction process once a job is awarded, assisting with initial project planning, timelines, and budgets.
- Perform constructability reviews to identify potential issues early in the project, ensuring designs are feasible and cost-effective.
- Schedule and attend buy-out meetings to finalize project costs, engage with subcontractors, and ensure the project stays on budget.
- Review subcontractor bids, analyze costs, and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality and scope.
- Assist with developing and maintaining project budgets, ensuring that estimates align with financial expectations and providing regular updates to the project management team.
- Identify potential risks associated with project estimation and pricing and propose mitigation strategies as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, including supporting documentation, correspondence, and calculations, for future reference and project tracking.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge of construction processes, economic trends, and best practices by attending educational workshops, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies, and reviewing industry publications.
- Select, measure, and track important metrics and trends related to project costs, construction timelines, and industry performance.
