Stuart & Company General Contractors has been building in Louisiana since 2003 — starting in the public bid market and growing into one of the region's trusted names in commercial construction. Today we're a multi-division company serving educational, governmental, healthcare, and religious clients, along with libraries, banks, athletic facilities, and office buildings across the Baton Rouge area — plus big box retail work for national chains. In 2023 we launched Stuart Facilities, our facilities maintenance division, and we're expanding our footprint into Texas, Arkansas, and the Gulf Coast. We're in a serious growth phase, and we're looking for a Project Estimator to help drive that work through our Pre-Construction Department.
About the Role
The Project Estimator is a key member of the Pre-Construction Department, responsible for preparing accurate, well-documented project estimates for executive review. This role calls for a sharp communicator with a close eye for detail and a real sense of urgency — someone who can manage bid documents, subcontractor solicitation, and takeoffs from initial scope review all the way through project buyout.

· Track addenda updates, modifications, and notifications to subcontractors
Subcontractor Solicitation
· Solicit subcontractor bids and supplier quotes
· Send invitations to bid to qualified subcontractors that fit the project scope
· Contact approved manufacturers to obtain material pricing
Estimate Development
· Build out the estimate workbook and flag required action items
· Perform quantity takeoffs
· Price self-performed items, including labor, equipment, and materials
Pre-Bid Meetings & Job Site Visits
· Attend pre-bid meetings as designated in the specifications
· Document existing site conditions
· Identify jobsite logistics and requirements
Pre-Bid Coordination
· Send bid RFIs to the design team for clarification
· Verify subcontractor scope of work
· Coordinate jobsite access, logistics, and requirements with subcontractors
Composing the Final Estimate & Bid

· Input subcontractor and supplier quotes into the estimate workbook
Project Buyout & Turnover
· Assist in final review of subcontractor and supplier quotes prior to subcontract issuance
· Assist in writing subcontracts and purchase orders
· Assist in creating job cost codes and schedules of values
· Take part in Estimating-to-Project Management turnover meetings
What You Bring
· Strong communicator with close attention to detail and a real sense of urgency around deadlines
· Proven experience preparing commercial construction estimates from bid through buyout
· Comfortable performing quantity takeoffs and pricing self-performed work
· Skilled at reviewing subcontractor and supplier scope to catch gaps or overlaps
· Strong organizational skills across multiple concurrent bids and deadlines
· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
