As an Electrician II, you'll perform skilled electrical work on a wide variety of CAL FIRE facilities, from administrative buildings to remote mountain-top radio sites. Your expertise will directly support the crews and operations that protect California's communities and natural resources.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will:
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment up to 600 volts, including lighting, generators, control systems, and low-voltage wiring.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to complete electrical projects accurately and efficiently.
- Perform electrical inspections and ensure all work complies with state electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Plan, lay out, direct, and inspect electrical construction and maintenance projects.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to Electricians, maintenance staff, fire personnel, and inmate fire crews performing electrical work.
- Purchase electrical materials, tools, and equipment while following state purchasing policies and procedures.
- Prepare material lists, cost estimates, reports, safety documentation, and project records.
- Schedule and coordinate electrical work with other skilled trades.
- Maintain an organized electrical shop and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and ready for use.
- Support maintenance and construction projects at state facilities, correctional institutions, remote locations, and mountain-top communication sites.
- Conduct tailgate safety meetings and promote safe work practices on every job.
