Position Description:
- Seeking a Senior Estimator with expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) trades. This role reports to both the Program Controls Manager and the Lead Estimator.
- Engage in the development of construction cost estimates for buildings and other structures based on drawings, outlines, and specifications.
- Produce detailed estimates aligned with design intentions, project scope, and building type.
- Assess cost-estimating outputs from consultants to ensure they meet standards for cost control, accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Generate equitable cost estimates for additional contractor proposals.
- Undertake special analyses and draft reports when contractors' bids diverge significantly from the estimated construction costs.
- Execute site visits to collect pertinent information for project estimations.
- Perform material takeoffs and quantity assessments for MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components.
- Review pricing documentation and historical cost data to develop reliable cost estimates and pricing recommendations.
- Analyze quotes, bids, change orders, value engineering reports, and claims to validate estimate accuracy and completeness.
- Gather and evaluate data impacting cost factors such as materials, labor, equipment, and profit margins.
- Draft technical evaluations, cost estimating reports, memos, letters, and present findings to management.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to explore cost-saving measures and value engineering opportunities.
- Fulfill other estimating-related duties as needed.
- Compare and contrast cost estimates with contractor proposals to pinpoint discrepancies.
- Develop detailed work scopes from RFI/RFC responses and estimate costs independently from contractor proposals.

- Utilize Excel for basic calculations.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of recent professional experience in cost estimation for Type I, II, III, and V building constructions as classified by the State building code, including 5 to 7 years focused on MEP estimation.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
- Deep expertise in cost estimating principles, theories, and practices, as well as contract pricing.
- Proficient in various contracting forms including Design Build, Design Bid Build, and Job Order Contracting.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction methodologies for buildings and structures.
- Well-versed in local construction labor and material costs.
- Thorough knowledge of MEP systems, construction techniques, and industry norms.
- Extensive experience in developing and estimating change order scopes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Prevailing Wage/Union Labor rates.
- Experience with NECA and MCAA labor productivity standards.
- Proficiency in using RS Means, Accubid, Trimble MEP, or Bluebeam Revu. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness.

- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
