Estimator

About the Role
Grant & Co. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Estimator to join our Production team. The Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and timely estimates, maintaining the company’s plan and control-sheet library, and supporting the Production team in delivering quality homes efficiently and cost-effectively.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and organizational skills with an understanding of construction, estimating, or related technical disciplines. This role works closely with the Senior Estimator, Production Manager, construction staff, and architectural and engineering consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate, timely estimates for new plans to help ensure optimal production value and cost control.
- Work closely with the Senior Estimator to complete accurate and timely quantity take-offs for all plans.
- Create and maintain accurate control sheets that clearly identify appropriate construction methods.
- Regularly review and update control sheets to support quality, consistency, and efficient construction.
- Produce accurate construction drawings to help ensure homes are built according to appropriate standards.
- Proactively identify, document, and communicate cost changes resulting from:
- Field changes
- Building/code changes
- Take-off errors
- Other changes affecting construction costs
- Communicate cost changes and estimating issues to the Production Manager and Senior Estimator in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Senior Estimator and Production Manager to continuously improve the accuracy and efficiency of estimating and take-off processes.
- Provide timely, accurate estimating and plan support to construction staff as needed.
- Communicate with architectural and engineering consultants regarding product development, plan revisions, and plan maintenance to help ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.

Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Associate degree (two-year) in a technical or quantitative field such as:
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with production, construction, and external consulting teams.
Preferred
- Experience in the residential or construction industry.
- Previous experience in estimating, quantity take-offs, or accounting.
- Proficiency with Revit or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with estimating software.
- Proficiency with additional Microsoft Office applications.
