Since 2005, Synergy Manufacturing has been an industry innovator and manufacturer of high-end automotive performance components for the Jeep, Dodge, and Ford platforms. These components are predominantly made in the USA and are primarily for the off-road aftermarket. About the Role
The job of the Production Planner at Synergy Manufacturing is to ensure the smooth operation of the production schedule. This role involves the planning and scheduling of material, labor, and manufacturing resources to deliver finished products on time and within budget. This requires managing the Production Schedule and avoiding downtime. The ideal candidate will need to understand the constraints of a manufacturing environment and be able to communicate effectively with the Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Sales Departments to maintain priorities and quickly resolve issues.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the mechanisms within the ERP System to plan, schedule, and coordinate the production of products by completing the following tasks:
- Create work orders (e.g. “jobs”) from the production workload or as required by Sales and release them to the production floor for kitting.
- Update the Production Schedule as jobs are completed and as material becomes available.
- Prepare and organize job routing packets (work order groups) and documentation into queues.
- Post and transact completed work orders by consuming materials and posting labor and scrap.
- Update the physical production board to accurately match the Production Schedule and what is currently being produced.
- Work closely with Production Management to evaluate equipment and labor availability to cover production schedule demand and to coordinate solutions to any risks.
- Evaluate raw material needs and risks (shortages) and work closely with the Purchasing Department to ensure materials are ordered on time or expedited accordingly.
- Monitor job costs to ensure processes, material, and labor stay within budget or boundaries.
- Review open sales orders, monitor inventory levels, and communicate with the Sales Department to ensure the schedule matches priorities.
- Notify Sales of any schedule impacts to customers.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience with manufacturing ERP systems.
- Understanding of supply chains, logistics, business processes, and manufacturing/industrial engineering.
- Understanding of standard costs and variance analysis.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing using English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Ability to use/create Pivot tables, Lookups, Index/Match, If statements etc.
Required Skills
- 1-2 years of experience as a Production Planner in a manufacturing environment.
- IQMS ERP system experience.
- Working knowledge of FIFO, Kanban, and Visual Control/Management.
- Read and interpret blueprints/engineering drawings.
- Experience with SolidWorks software.
