Job description – Project Engineer / Project Controls
Caliagua is a general engineering contractor. Since 1978, our engineering and construction skills have served our clients in the private, commercial & building sectors working in the waterworks & wastewater industries, including the public agencies.
We are California State licensed, with A & B licenses, and C-4 and C-36 specialty licenses. We specialize in the construction of Pumping Stations, Pipelines, Treatment Plants, Reservoirs, Aqueducts, Cooling towers, and numerous other projects.
Caliagua is currently searching for a Project Engineer with at least 2 years of experience in the construction industry. To be considered, you must have experience with project submittals, procurements, scheduling and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors. Above average computer skills, including Windows 10, and MS Office are also required. Additionally, you must have experience with computer-based project management, accounting, estimating, and scheduling programs is also required.
Job description:
The Project Engineer will report to the Project Manager and will support estimating, and coordinating proposals. You will:
- Share responsibilities with others in pre-construction.
- Participate in construction, planning and execution.
- Schedule and coordinate inspections.
- Assist with planning & executing the startup, testing, and commissioning phases of the projects you are assigned to.
The Project Engineer will be someone who is organized and completes tasks in a timely manner. In addition, they will need to be motivated by success and willing to go above and beyond what is expected.
Responsibilities:
o Preliminary Estimating, compile bids and generate proposals
o Assist with developing construction schedules on Primavera P6
o Maintain schedules through updates, revisions and distribution
o Pre-construction review (receive and review/evaluate supplier & subcontractor quotations)
o Experienced with thorough reviews and comprehension of project documents and requirements to support the procurement process.
o Define, document and tabulate the procurements requirements of Materials, Equipment, and Subcontracts required for new and ongoing projects
o Process Purchase Orders & Subcontracts: Prepare and assist with writing and executing purchase orders & subcontracts to fulfill the requirements of the project specifications & plans.
o Own the submittal process: define, create & manage project submittals & logs (worksheets) to track the critical path required for approval of submittals and release of materials for manufacturing and fabrication.
o Prepare & assist with monthly project progress billing, reporting, updating, and accounting.
o Coordinate and schedule deliveries with vendors and subcontractors
o Collect and review Vendors/Subcontractors invoices for accuracy and completeness.
o Provide ongoing support to the superintendent with labor dispatch, scheduling and delivery of materials and equipment, and coordinate work of subcontractors.
o Comprehensive understanding and use of “Raken”(utilized by Caliagua for daily production reporting, budgeting & performance).
o Manage project closeout project record documents including operating and maintenance manuals, as-built records, warranties and others documents that may be required by the owner.
o Maintain other required records needed by the client.
o Assist the Project Manager on daily operations.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related field; experience in the waterworks industry preferred.
· Two years of experience as a Project Engineer.
· Excellent organization skills.
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage diverse number of projects
· Computer skills: Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), SAGE, Primavera P6
