Role Description This full-time, on-site Construction Estimator role is based in McAllen, TX. The Construction Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for industrial and commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, and equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications, analyzing subcontractor and supplier proposals, and developing accurate budgets and bid documents. The role will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scopes of work, address questions, and support value engineering options. The Construction Estimator will also maintain current cost databases, support project cost tracking, and contribute to continuous improvement in estimating processes and tools.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Construction Estimating and developing competitive bids for industrial and commercial projects.
- Proficiency in Quantity Take-offs and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Experience with Cost Management and Budgeting, including cost analysis, forecasting, and value engineering.
- Strong Communication abilities to collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Familiarity with estimating software and spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel, digital take-off platforms).
- Knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, building codes, and safety standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience as an estimator or in project management within industrial or commercial construction is preferred.
