The Fresno County Department of Public Works and Planning is currently offering an employment opportunity for motivated and hardworking individuals interested in the position of Disposal Site Attendant.
Disposal Site Attendants are responsible for measuring and weighing refuse delivered to the disposal site through the operation of various scale house equipment; computation of charges; collection and recording of fees; spot checking for hazardous materials and tires; traffic control; salvage control; permit verification; and enforcement of recycled materials ban.
The American Avenue Disposal Site is located in Kerman, approximately 23 miles west of Fresno. Individuals will be required to provide their own transportation to and from work (auto expenses and travel time are not covered). Candidates must also be able and willing to work shifts as assigned, including weekends and holidays.
Note: The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.
Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.
