Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Estimator specializing in electrical heavy civil projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating complex electrical systems for large-scale civil projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels, and infrastructure developments. The Chief Estimator will lead the estimating team, manage all aspects of the bidding process, and ensure accurate and competitive bids that align with company goals and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing guidance, training, and professional development.
- Oversee the preparation of comprehensive and competitive project bids.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive project planning and execution.
Estimating and Cost Analysis:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for electrical components of heavy civil projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
Bidding Process Management:
- Manage the entire bidding process, from initial inquiry to bid submission.
- Prepare and review bid proposals, ensuring all client requirements and specifications are met.
- Negotiate and clarify bid conditions with clients and subcontractors as needed.
Project Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope and requirements.
- Maintain open communication with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the estimation process.
- Present and justify estimates to senior management and clients.
Market Research and Analysis:]
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
- Analyze historical data to improve accuracy and competitiveness of future bids.
- Monitor competitor activity and industry developments.
- Software and Technology Utilization:
- Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to develop accurate and efficient cost estimates.
- Implement and maintain best practices for estimating processes and software use.
- Ensure all estimating data is accurately recorded and maintained.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating electrical components for heavy civil projects.
- Proven track record of successfully leading an estimating team and managing complex bids.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction processes, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
