We are looking for a reliable Construction Site Safety Professional to ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. You will be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace. As a safety professional, you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards and be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions. The ability to execute various safety programs and communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. The goal is to ensure the worksite meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:

Become familiar with the construction safety and security requirements of the assigned project.

Attend all scheduled health and safety meetings, training classes, tailgate/toolbox meetings and pre-work meetings as mandated by the contract, management and/or the site personnel.

Conduct safety observations, which include (but are not limited to) daily documentation of the observations of the work activities conducted during that shift, delays in work activities, permits issued or reviewed, site visitors, health or safety concerns and/or corrections made by others.

Walk about the construction/de-construction site as assigned by the onsite supervisor making safety observations, which are to be noted on one’s daily log. Safety observations should include any observed health or safety deficiencies and/or recent corrections or improved safety features.

Perform site safety reviews including, but not limited to, construction equipment, personnel, work procedures and traffic control.

Provide counseling and intervention to correct observed hazardous, at risk, or noncompliant work activities.

Review identified uncontrolled hazards or security vulnerabilities with contractor.

Provide daily reports with photographs, in a manner agreed to prior to the work, to the Construction Owner/Agency.

When requested, respond to construction incident scene(s) and assist with incident investigations.

Provide other construction safety and security field services, as directed.

Develop the site-specific safety program (SSSP).

Revise SSSP to include procedures to mitigate hazardous situations identified in construction site safety.

Confirm each worker’s compliance with the Cal/OSHA drug testing requirements.

Conduct the on-site new project orientation for each worker assigned to the project.

Review the construction work plans for each subcontractor before starting work.

Conduct or attend pre-planning sessions for high hazard work such as excavations, demolition, confined space entry, falsework, crane hoisting, high-risk utilities such as, high pressure pipelines with fuel or natural gas, and tunneling or boring.

Review work schedules including subcontractors', to ensure adequacy of job hazard analyses and address all safety concerns and issues.

Ensure Safety Data Sheets are available on-site for all materials and have a hazard communication program for informing workers of material hazards.

Verify compliance with hazardous waste requirements, including spill prevention and control measures.

Ensure that the lane closure traffic control daily report is completed timely and accurately, as needed.

Review the lane closure traffic control daily reports and traffic control daily review reports for any work zone related safety issues.

Investigate any near misses or reported incidents in a timely manner and take appropriate action to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Prepare and submit daily safety status reports.

May assume other duties as required/needed.

May be required to work beyond scheduled work shifts as needed.

Proven experience as safety representative

Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines

Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies

Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment

Excellent organizational and motivational skills

Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability

Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
-
Experience in the construction industry with a Heavy Civil contractor
Qualifications
- Two (2) min years of experience in vertical, tunnel or heavy civil construction
- Knowledge in the area of safety procedures for all types of work being performed on construction projects
Must have completed safety training and maintain valid certifications for:
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Cal/OSHA 30-hour construction training course
Must have one of the following certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP):
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST)
Location: TBD (Project specific within an approximate 45-mile radius of our Valencia, CA corporate office).
Salary: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year depending on experience and job-specific requirements met
