BASIC FUNCTION: The basic function of the Quality Technician is to provide quality checks on random samples of production items and to provide test reports, using standard measurement and test equipment to ensure that the product is built in accordance with customer and company quality requirements while maintaining production flow.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma is required. Some college is preferred.
2. Two or more years’ experience in quality inspection is desired.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to read product specifications, blue prints and ability to multi-task.
2. Must possess ability to operate standard measuring and testing equipment.
3. Ability to input data accurately into a computer.
4. Must possess good communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
1. BODY POSITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time. There are also occasions when the employee will be required to sit.
2. BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals, and the ability to bend, reach, and crouch.
3. BODY SENSES: Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift in focus from equipment to close small parts.
4. STRENGTH: Must have the ability to lift 30-40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. This position will be working indoors in an office environment but also requires the employee to work in production areas on a regular basis. From this movement, the employee will encounter varying temperatures, lighting conditions, and air quality from one area to the next.
2. The noise level in the work environment is at acceptable levels but can be higher from time to time in some areas.
AUTHORITY:
1. The Quality Technician is selected and appointed by the Quality Assurance Manager and has been delegated the authority required to successfully accomplish all of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
The primary purpose of the Quality Technician is to perform quality inspection and testing work and to be responsible for an assigned program and/or work area.
1. Obtains samples from in-process production and, using measurement and test instruments, evaluates parts for adherence to specifications for quality, performance and condition.
2. Completes necessary test reports as required by the customer specifications and submits to document package.
3. Recommends improvements or changes to test methods and procedures.
4. Orders and maintains inventory of expendable test components.
5. Prepares necessary company forms and trend charts in support of the Quality Engineering function.
6. Assists supervision with follow-up checks on quality problems.
7. May assist in cause and failure analysis.
8. Completes any other work as assigned by supervisor.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
The Quality Technician of Westland Technologies, Inc. shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following items have been accomplished:
1. A good working relationship is maintained with co-workers.
2. The Quality Assurance Manager is satisfied with the quality and quantity of work performed.
3. Work areas are neat and clean.
4. Paperwork and reports are up to date and accurate.
5. The Vice President Technology, Quality Assurance Manager, and production management have been kept informed of any potential problems with customers, jobs, equipment or completion deadlines.
