Mechanical Estimator
- Develop an understanding of estimating system, Trimble Autobid Mechanical (formerly Quickpen), forms and procedures
- Develop full mechanical estimates for plan/spec, design assist and design build delivery methods
- Have the ability to conceptually develop budget estimates from system narratives, architectural floor plans and or provided sketches
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine a complete scope of work
- Develop and provide complete, accurate and detailed estimates representing a projects mechanical systems, subcontract requirements, material & labor costs, associated general conditions, logistical considerations and company established overhead & fee.
- Apply labor factors to specialty items or specific site considerations
- Perform graphical on screen take-off of plumbing, process piping & HVAC piping systems for plan/spec and design build projects
- Perform layout of plumbing & piping systems to provide a complete system for estimating purposes when the documents are incomplete or for design build applications.
- Coordinate scope with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors for accurate timely quotes
- Develop cost proposals to support the unique project RFP language, alternates and contract line items
- Track projects, negotiate final estimates and keep company up to date on estimated project award
- Ability to develop square foot budgets & proposals
- Excellent work history & attendance
Communication
- Provide timely constructive feedback to the team regarding project bid status or concerns
- Communicate effectively the project approach, estimate summary and deliverables to team member
- Mentor, train and assist in the development of all team members
- Participate in meetings with customers to present and confirm estimates
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Specific Skill Sets
- Experience or knowledge in mechanical engineering, mechanical estimating, construction and be familiar with HVAC and plumbing systems is a plus
- Mechanical estimating experience preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Autobid estimating software systems is a plus
- Ability to read architectural, structural and mechanical plans
- Be familiar with mechanical system and terminology
- Four-year mechanical engineering or similar degree or field experience by which an understanding of mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems has been gained
- Above average skills in Microsoft Office products
- Ability to organize and estimate multiple project tasks at the same time
- Effectively interact with customers, account executives and staff
- Possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Complete assignments and follow thru to the end
- Takes pride in ones work and be professional
- Be self-motivated, set goals and meet project deadlines

Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of piping systems.
- Provide office and on-site administrative and technical management.
- Develop goals and strategies in concert with executive management team and implement with your construction teams.
- Establish project objectives and strategies, policies, procedures and performance standards with executive management.
- Set up a workable schedule for job cost control, labor, material, equipment and subcontractors.
- Set up a pre-planning meeting with field superintendent, estimators, purchasing, engineer, foreman, and detailing.
- Work with Purchasing on all equipment and material buyout.
- Work with Project Team to ensure job drawings and change orders are up to date.
- Manage financial aspects of the contract. These include but are not limited to: financial forecasting, manpower forecasting, job cost tracking, preparing monthly billings, etc.
- Meet or exceed gross profit goals stated in project budget.
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients in an effort to get additional work and build a repeat customer base while maintaining the reputation of our company.
- Maintain list of lessons learned to be utilized on future projects.
- Maintain targeted safety incident rate.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, labor, vendors and subcontractors.
- Resourceful and aggressive in providing high-quality results.
- Well-organized and able to meet deadlines and budgets
