Summary
The Prevailing Wage Payroll Processor is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution, and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll. Responds to and resolve inquiries regarding paychecks or reporting. Provides payroll reports to the Management Team as needed.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Process weekly & biweekly payroll in the payroll processing program (currently Paycom).
- Review timecards for job costing accuracy and coordinate approvals from supervisors.
- Enter employee changes into the payroll system & accounting system.
- Understand and coordinate employee wage garnishments.
- Assist with the implementation of a new payroll platform.
- The position handles all prevailing wage and Davis Bacon requirements for California and all administrative responsibilities for multiple prevailing wage / public work construction projects.
- Process weekly prevailing wage payroll in the DIR portal and other online tracking platforms to ensure compliance.
- Piece work payroll experience.
- Keep accurate calculations of prevailing wage rates.
- Provide complete and accurate DIR reporting.
- Assist and communicate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Subcontractors in complying with various prevailing wage contract requirements.
- Review and track subcontractors' certified payroll and labor records.
- Partner and communicate with payroll personnel for allocation of correct rates, fringes, reporting classifications, and holiday schedules.
- Prepare and track prevailing wage certified payroll weekly reports.
- Attend pre-construction meetings for compliance with prevailing wage jobs.
- Operate multiple accounting software systems to record, store, and analyze information.

Education, Experience, Knowledge
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications
- Experience with Prevailing wage/ Public work compliance (Certified payroll, DAS 140/142, LCP Tracker, Elations, DIR) and reporting of hours.
- Minimum two (2) years payroll processing and general accounting experience; construction accounting experience a plus.
- Must have administrative experience.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Communicate with all levels of employees with tact and professionalism.
- Must possess at least an intermediate Excel skill level.
- Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent communication skills.
- Articulate phone skills and ability to adapt to different personality types.
