Role Summary
We are in need of versatile professional who is knowledgeable in all aspects of surveying and who prioritizes accuracy. The Associate Surveyor will have the opportunity to perform work in the office and field while working on projects within our entire area of operations.
In this role, you will perform deed and record map research, prepare final and parcel maps, Record of Surveys, boundary resolution, construction staking and calculations, write legal descriptions, as well as perform work as a member of a survey crew in the field.
The candidate considered for this role is to be hardworking, team-oriented, and possess excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. You will be on a hybrid work schedule, working 2 to 3 days per week in the office. This position also requires driving to/from offices and project sites.
Responsibilities
- Boundary resolution and topographic surveys
- ALTA surveys
- Lot line adjustments and lot mergers
- Construction staking and calculations
- FEMA elevation certificates and LOMA applications
- City and county setback and height certifications
- Prepare legal descriptions, final and parcel maps, and Record of Surveys
- Perform thorough research of legal and survey records to obtain information about property boundaries (includes deeds, easements, vacations, dedications, Right of Ways)
- Collaborate with field and office personnel on field survey projects
- Operate as a Survey Party Chief in a one or two-person field crew to perform surveys on an as-needed basis
- Data collection using Trimble total station and controller or Trimble GPS
- Manage and organize incoming data from the field including digital data sets, field notes and pictures
- Work with project management and survey team to meet standards, timelines and budgets
Experience & Qualifications
- Office and field survey-related experience required (Experience in boundary resolution, ALTA and ACSM requirements, preparation of legal descriptions, plat & parcel maps, and Record of Surveys)
- Minimum 2 years of AutoCAD drafting experience
- Professional Land Surveyor License is preferred
- Ability to operate a Total Station, base and rover as a one or two-person team
- Knowledge and experience of field survey and working with field survey crews
- Ability to safely navigate all types of terrains, potentially hazardous sites and in all weather conditions
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
