About this role:
We are looking for an Accounting Manager to work from our administrative office located in Spring Valley, CA under the direction of the President. In this position the Accounting Manager is the Accounting & Finance Division leader and is responsible for the management and reporting of financial data of the organization by managing multiple accounting functions and operations such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting.
Primary duties include monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting closing processes and reporting that include analyzing and presenting financial statements, examine and analyze the company’s accounts and ensure compliance with financial reporting that adheres to governmental financial and tax regulations and comply with GAAP standards.
This is a key role at Casper Company as it will serve as a credible, trusted advisor to provide solutions and recommendations to enhance operational effectiveness and ultimately drive improved business outcomes by routinely evaluating accounting processes and systems and implementing optimizations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our financial processes, procedures and systems (ERP).

The successful Senior Accounting Manager provides problem solving with all levels of the organization on accounting related issues in areas of financial compliance, researches, develops and administers processes and systems that ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws while supporting the department’s overall goals
Essential Functions:
Some of the essential functions of this position are:
- Develop and maintain annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and control project costs against budget plan.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including WIP, profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Collaborate with Division Leaders and other shareholders to review financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Utilize and manage financial software and systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Implement new technologies to enhance financial management and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including GAAP.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable related to construction projects.
- Conduct payroll reviews and provide labor bill rate support for project-related staff.
- Coordinate with external auditors and customers for project audits and financial reviews.
- Provide financial advice and support to senior management and project teams.
- Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures.
- Conduct subcontractor prequalification reviews.
- Monitor daily cash management and cash control processes.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial performance and project success.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior and executive management.
- Manage ERP system attributes used to control Development Lifecycle reports
- Develop, implement, and maintain construction management system, including setting up projects (jobs), budgets, job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and various construction progress reports.
- Review and analyze capitalization of costs. Ensure compliance with policy.
- Manage process for proper coding of construction invoices (payment applications) and lien releases for contractor and vendor invoices. Maintain contract documents including records of lien releases in appropriate files.
- Analyze and review construction status with Project/Construction Managers.
- Direct and participate in cost analyses.
- Prepare/gather materials related to construction and cost accounting matters for internal and external auditors.
- Coordinate/interface with cost accounting system software provider.
- Reconciling the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
- Managing income and expenditure accounts.
- Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations
- Advises, coaches and counsel’s supervisors and managers on accounting concerns to manage financial and legal risk.
- Protects company from exposure to litigation regarding accounting and tax related matters ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
- Maintains positive and supportive relationships with all employees and responds to employee requests for information and assistance.
- Partners and serves as a resource and advisor to supervisors and managers on accounting related training and matters.
- Assists Division Directors in the successful and consistent implementation of accounting initiatives.
- Assists in Developing and implementing people solutions to enhance and improve effectiveness of teams.
- Must be available to work onsite Monday – Friday
- Participate in New Hire Orientation, Onboarding and Offboarding processes of accounting related matters for i.e. new managers, supervisors, etc.
- Ensures that all accounting processes are correctly documented and current.
- Any additional accounting and finance duties as assigned by the President.

- Perform assessments of current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.

- Strong collaboration and leadership capabilities coupled with outstanding organization and time management skills.
- High volume processing and reconciliation of all types of payments including invoices, contracts, and check requests.
- Accurate management and reporting of company finances.
- Drawing up a budget based on income and expenditure accounts for the organization as well as for each division.
- Experience conducting internal and external auditing is an added advantage.
- Working experience with general ledger functions is required.
- Responsible for weekly expense reimbursements of employees.
- Lead initiatives to streamline payment processes, increase efficiency, and improve relations with vendors.
- Successfully identified opportunities for electronic and consolidated payments, reducing the number of checks issued.
- Proficiency in commonly used word processing software packages such as MS Office suite.
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Training & Education
A successful candidate should have experience with accounting and financial software and stay up to date with current trends. Additional training and education requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree or CPA is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in AP, AR, processing bank deposits, credit card reconciliations, general ledger account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- 5+ years of managerial experience.
- Knowledge of California Laws and taxes related regulations.
- Experience in Construction Cost Accounting and GAAP.
- Experience in the implementation of platforms such as Accounting, Payroll, etc.
- Appropriate skills with MS Office, specifically the ability to structure and apply Microsoft Excel solutions that require pivot and look up features as well as charts and graphs.
- Expert-level knowledge of working with spreadsheets is crucial.
- Experience with word processing software is essential for generating and writing reports for record-keeping as well as presentations.
- Deltek (ComputerEase) experience is a plus, but not required.
- Advanced understanding of construction industry financial practices and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
