The Placement Specialist plays a critical role in connecting formerly incarcerated individuals with suitable employment opportunities while housed in the Residential Reentry Center, under the auspices of the Bureau of Prisons. This position involves assessing clients' skills and needs, providing guidance throughout the job search process, and collaborating with employers to facilitate successful placements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social work, mentoring, and workforce development, along with a passion for helping others achieve their career goals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to evaluate clients' skills, interests, and employment readiness.
- Develop individualized placement plans tailored to each client's unique needs.
- Provide mentoring and support throughout the job search process, including resume writing and interview preparation.
- Collaborate with local employers to identify job openings and match candidates with suitable positions.
- Stay informed about employment labor laws and best practices to ensure compliance during the placement process.
- Educate clients about workforce development resources and opportunities available to them.
- Facilitate training development sessions to enhance clients' employability skills.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress towards placement goals.
- Advocate for formerly incarcerated individuals in the workforce, ensuring they receive appropriate support during their job search.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma. The minimum experience for the position will be one year of work experience in guidance, counseling or job placement. Work experience may be substituted with a specialized degree or certification in the filed of guidance, counseling or career development.
- Experience in mentoring or recruiting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of employment labor laws and workforce development principles is essential.
- Strong interviewing skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required for maintaining client records.
