Job Description

Kennel Assistant & Dog Walker (Boot Camp Junior Pack Leader)

Salary

Part-time $10-13 per hour DOE

Schedule & Reporting

Typical shifts are part-time from 7:15 am to 11 am and/or 1 pm to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday onsite. Employee will support and report to dog trainers for dog training or behavior-related questions/tasks and direct supervisor for all other responsibilities. Once trained, commission pay may be available periodically for assisting with dog training classes. There may be opportunities for future advancement depending on skills and interests.

Responsibilities

Participate in day camp training program that includes daily pack walks, indoor work, transporting dogs for rotations, and cleaning animal waste.
Monitor dogs’ body language and behavior both for safety and reinforcement of training activities.
Daily facility housekeeping tasks such as cleaning dog crates, dishes, laundry, and ensuring animals have water.
Work both independently and coordinate with a team to complete tasks in a timely manner as well as anticipate the needs of dogs and tailor their care according to the animal’s physical and behavioral needs.
Perform nail trims and baths periodically

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and dependable transportation
Must be willing and capable of performing physical work activities; these requirements include, but are not limited to: walking at duration outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
A passion for animal welfare; previous experience working with dogs or a related field preferred
Ability to interact with dogs of a variety of sized and temperaments in a calm, non-threatening manner
Ability to work, take direction, and communicate effectively within a team to complete daily individual and shared tasks
Effective time management and organizational skills within a fast-paced environment
Necessary soft skills: proactive, coachable, flexible, resilient, reliable, and verbal communication

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18 – 30 per week
