Are you passionate about people? Detail-oriented, and ready to make a real difference? Vermont Adult Learning (VAL) seeks an enthusiastic Human Resources Operations Coordinator (HROC) to join our dynamic, mission-driven team.

As the HROC, you’ll be at the heart of our HR operations—supporting employees, managing benefits and payroll, ensuring compliance, and helping our organization thrive in a positive and inclusive workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Be the first point of contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
Administer benefit programs, including open enrollment, COBRA, and leave management.
Deliver engaging orientations and oversee employee onboarding processes.
Maintain accurate HR systems and ensure data integrity within our HRIS.
Keep employee files up to date and organized.
Manage timekeeping and leave programs (e.g., FMLA, STD, Workers’ Comp).
Support employee recognition efforts, including milestones like years of service.
Coordinate with our Benefit Advisor, when applicable on our benefit plans to ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Keep the VAL employee handbook updated and inform the Executive Director of policies and procedures needing revisions.
Coordinate professional development opportunities for staff.
Support recruitment efforts by maintaining job postings and assisting with hiring processes.
Coordinate with our Benefit Advisor in preparing and distributing annual benefits guides, compliance documents, and reports.

What You Bring

2+ years of HR experience or 3 years of progressive administrative experience (HR certifications a plus).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Proficiency with HRIS platforms (ADP, Gusto, or similar systems preferred).
Knowledge of HR regulations and a commitment to staying current on compliance standards.
Exceptional customer service skills and a collaborative mindset.
High attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
A proactive attitude with a willingness to adapt and learn.
