Are you passionate about people? Detail-oriented, and ready to make a real difference? Vermont Adult Learning (VAL) seeks an enthusiastic Human Resources Operations Coordinator (HROC) to join our dynamic, mission-driven team.
As the HROC, you’ll be at the heart of our HR operations—supporting employees, managing benefits and payroll, ensuring compliance, and helping our organization thrive in a positive and inclusive workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Administer benefit programs, including open enrollment, COBRA, and leave management.
- Deliver engaging orientations and oversee employee onboarding processes.
- Maintain accurate HR systems and ensure data integrity within our HRIS.
- Keep employee files up to date and organized.
- Manage timekeeping and leave programs (e.g., FMLA, STD, Workers’ Comp).
- Support employee recognition efforts, including milestones like years of service.
- Coordinate with our Benefit Advisor, when applicable on our benefit plans to ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Keep the VAL employee handbook updated and inform the Executive Director of policies and procedures needing revisions.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities for staff.
- Support recruitment efforts by maintaining job postings and assisting with hiring processes.
- Coordinate with our Benefit Advisor in preparing and distributing annual benefits guides, compliance documents, and reports.
What You Bring
- 2+ years of HR experience or 3 years of progressive administrative experience (HR certifications a plus).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms (ADP, Gusto, or similar systems preferred).
- Knowledge of HR regulations and a commitment to staying current on compliance standards.
- Exceptional customer service skills and a collaborative mindset.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to adapt and learn.
