Position Title: Central Office Technician

Pay rate: $30 - $34 p/h, W2, No Benefits
Reports To: Project Manager
Working Hours: Day shift
Hiring Manager Special Interest:
1. AT&T Experience is preferred, must be able to obtain an ATT badge.
2. Active AT&T badge is a bonus.
3. Experience with installing Ribbon G5 and or G6 VoIP Gateway or CS 20 Switches is a bonus.
4. Must be able to follow MOPS
5. Up to 100% travel Job, all travel in the Pacific Northwest, California and some Mountain West.
6. Candidates must be based in California or on the West Coast. May consider candidates in Mountain Time Zone.
7. Travel expenses will be covered when away from your home market.
8. Project training is planned to start JAN an FEB 25, main deployments are planned to begin mid JAN and FEB 2025, dates subject to customer approval.
Essential Functions:
- Install and commission Ribbon G5/G6 Gateway in telephone Central Office
- Build rack, connect to DC power and station ground
- Install cabling to ATT specifications
- Perform physical installation including site survey, "rack and stack", cabling, fiber, power and ground.
- Commission newly installed equipment, verify power-up, and support on-site integration, as needed by the customer.
- Run new cables as needed; use existing cable plant when appropriate.
- Install 25 pr and 32 pr cables per color code, with wire-wrap termination, stitch, dress and label all cabling; may also install optical fibers, and perform port testing,
- Install PDUs to equipment rack; run power to rack; work with -48 VDC power
- Document work is performed per customer standard requirements.
Other Functions:
- Complete all the required tests needed to gain access to customer Central Office
- Read and understand Scope of Work (SOW) and Memorandum of Procedure (MOP)
- Complete all technical reading and study requirements to earn CO access.
- Must be familiar with and be able to comply with standard Central Office protocols.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Work will be performed in a ATT Telephone Central Office (CO) with cold air conditioning and a moderate background noise environment.
- Work will be performed at night during maintenance windows
- Must have own standard tools, per tool list; company will provide specialized tools.
- Extensive use of hand tools, wire cutters, pliers, screwdrivers and specialized wiring tools; electronic tablet, to track work tasks; some power tools may also be used.
- Adhere to all safety standards around low voltage and high voltage electric power.
- Requires 100% travel, road trips, flights, long and short hotel stays.
- Extensive driving may be required.
Required Education/Experience and Competencies:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
- Must have experience with NORTEL DMS, Lucent 5ESS, Ribbon CS 20, or similar switches
- Experience with installing Ribbon G5/G6 Gateway is highly desired
- Must be comfortable working with -48 VDC power
- Must be proficient with Cat 5 & 6, 25 pr, and 32 pr cable color codes, and wire wrap termination
- Expert installation skills with low-voltage electric and light gauge wiring used for signaling.
- Proficient with hand tools such as pliers, wire cutters, wire strippers, screwdrivers, etc.
- Familiar with C/O entry, safety and work procedures, switch layout, power, ground, and ancillary equipment operation, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Familiar with power tools such as battery-operated drills and electric soldering irons
- High physical flexibility, including bending, stooping, laying down, and climbing ladders to reach cross connects.
- Familiar with provisioning orders, wiring and troubleshooting process and procedures.
- Higher level English language comm skills; must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with other team members who may have limited English language proficiency.
- Maintain a positive attitude and work as a contributing team player.
- Able to work night-time maintenance windows, as required.
