Location
This position is located at our U.S. headquarters in the heart of Los Angeles. Join top professionals in a collaborative office environment, working on-site five days a week Monday - Friday.
Purpose
Reporting to the Founder, the Commercial Architect is responsible for designing advanced food processing facilities that seamlessly integrate cutting-edge technology, operational efficiency and safety. By applying expertise in architectural design and workflow optimization, this role ensures the efficient use of space, compliance with state and federal safety standards and the accommodation of machinery, production lines and staff movement.
Collaborating with technical and operational teams both locally and in Australia, the Commercial Architect develops functional, sustainable building designs that align with organisational goals. The role includes preparing detailed reports, maintaining compliance records and presenting innovative design solutions to stakeholders, all while upholding a high standard of professional integrity and fostering teamwork.
The position demands strong technical knowledge, proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Revit and the ability to deliver high-quality designs within tight deadlines. Domestic and international travel will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Create comprehensive design specifications for state-of-the-art food processing facilities.
- Draft floor plan layouts integrating third-party, in-house and seamless farm operations.
- Review and markup consultant drawings to ensure building designs align with Stacked Farm's construction and operations
- Document design changes and ensure action points are followed through
- Conduct design meetings with external consultants
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure design specifications are implemented.
- Work with the Construction Project Manager to conduct site inspections during the construction phase to ensure compliance with design standards.
- Liaise with the technology and operations teams to develop efficient workflows for integration into new building designs.
- Optimize space utilization to accommodate machinery, production lines and staff movement.
- Design and account for effective waste management and drainage systems.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards during the design phase.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders.
- Maintain thorough records of design approvals and compliance certifications.

Qualifications & Experience
- Licenced Architect and a pass in the NCARB’s Architect Registration Examination.
- Proven confidence and ability to manage multiple consultants and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (required); familiarity with Inventor (preferred).
- Experience in creating high-quality, marketing-level renderings.
- At least 3+ years of experience in commercial building design, with a preference for specialization in food processing facility design and California/Nevada regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Capability to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
