Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Design Support Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide technical support to our design team by executing directed tasks in SketchUp, Canva, and other design platforms. This person would need to work well independently and follow detailed procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Presentation and Design Drafting:
- Assist in building compelling design presentations in Canva for clients, showcasing concepts, materials, and layouts.
- Collaborate with designers to create and modify detailed design drawings in Sketchup, including floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings using industry-standard software.
- Ensure design drawings effectively communicate the design intent and are presented professionally for client and team reviews.
2. Support in creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
- Assist with document preparation and organization
- Attend meetings to review design files, materials lists, and purchase orders
3. Support administrative needs:
- Research and compile reference materials as requested by the design team
- Help prepare visual materials for client presentations
- Attend team meetings to receive directions and provide status updates
4. Assist with physical tasks:
- Assist with physical organization of material samples and design boards
- Support the team during client installation days as needed
- Capability to lift and transport design materials and samples when required
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in design or related field, OR previous design experience
- Proficiency in SketchUp and Canva
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specific directions
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work well under guidance and as part of a team
- Availability to work 5-15 hours per week
- Reliable internet connection
- Access to a personal computer with ability to install SketchUp
- Basic knowledge of interior design principles

This is primarily a support role focused on executing design tasks under direction rather than creating original designs. The ideal candidate will have technical skills and a willingness to learn while supporting our established design processes.
