We are a rapidly growing company looking to hire qualified Utility Locators / GPR Technicians. As a part of our team, you'll perform visual inspections of designated construction areas, read and interpret utility maps, and operate state-of-the-art electromagnetic and GPR ground-penetrating radar equipment to accurately detect, locate and document underground utilities.
Additionally, you will collect field data for our utility mapping department, gathering GPS points of the located utilities using Trimble GPS/GNSS devices and Pointman software. Prior experience in GPR concrete scanning will be highly appreciated.
Responsibilities:
Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type, size and location of underground utilities.
Use communication equipment to effectively liaise with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel.
Operate electronic detection equipment, including RD8100/8200 and GSSI SIR 4000, to accurately locate, mark and document underground utilities.
Collect and document accurate GPS data using provided GPS/GNSS devices and Pointman software.
Use laptop, tablet, smartphone, or other devices to receive, document, and close out assignments.
Maintain a professional appearance while safely operating company vehicles.
Be available for work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours if required.
Adhere to all safety rules and avoid engaging in unsafe acts.
Our service area is typically around the greater Sacramento region with occasional jobs in other parts of California. Some travel may be required with advance notice
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid State driver's license with an acceptable MVR
Must pass a pre-employment background check.
Proficiency in using hand tools and equipment (e.g., shovels, screwdrivers, wrenches, and similar).
Previous experience locating underground utilities and operating GPR equipment is preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA, state, and city/municipality safety requirements.
Bonus points for OSHA 40 HAZWOPER, TWIC Certification and/or GSSI Training Certificates.
