YOU
As a Strengthening Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for working independently and with your teammates to drive the profitable growth of Simpson's share in Strengthening Solutions focused in Southern California. You are responsible for identifying and addressing customer needs, competition, and market potential and helping to formulate and execute the business strategy for this industry. You will research and communicate appropriate market trends and field intelligence to management and operations to ensure customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include completing a wide variety of projects aimed at supporting the existing product offering while helping identify future growth opportunities. You will be a top-level contributor/specialist who will provide consultation on complex projects while performing a variety of other tasks. You will collaboratively work with our internal teams and clients to drive solutions for the customer.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Work with customers, team members, and Strengthening Solutions Managers to identify opportunities to provide consultation in the areas of design, testing, development, and implementation of strengthening solutions to meet project needs. You will work in conjunction with the rest of the Strengthening team to develop project-specific solutions and be responsible for communicating those solutions to customers and coordinate with other team members to ensure successful follow through on projects from concept to completion and achieving stated sales goals. (50%)
Lead and participate in technical presentations and workshops sessions to both internal and external customers to promote strengthening solutions. These workshops require scheduling, promotion, set-up, presentation, and take-down, as well as providing observations and suggestions for improvement. (20%)
Act as the liaison between Simpson Strong-Tie, our clients, and design professionals to coordinate design guidance, feasibility studies and other project specific tasks to win Strengthening projects. (10%)
Perform tasks and projects as directed by the Director of Strengthening and/or Manager of Strengthening Solutions Engineers, R&D related to R&D Testing, and Product and Job Specific Support (i.e., testing, training, product installation observation, etc.). (10%)
Other duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to, consistent CRM management and usage, scheduling, submitting expense reports in a timely manner, regular maintenance of company-owned vehicles, and other duties as assigned. (5%)
Actively participate in professional associations involved in new construction and/or the repair and rehabilitation of existing structures, focusing on general technical knowledge as well as the advantages and use of SST’s strengthening products. (5%)
Desired Skills And Experience

- Required: B.S. degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering
- Preferred: Licensed Professional Engineer (California license preferred)
- 3 Years of Concrete Design experience (required) and Masonry Design experience (preferred).
- FRP/ FRCM: Demonstrate understanding or expertise in concepts, practices, procedures, and codes/ standards/ guides relating to FRP, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals. Similarly demonstrate understanding or expertise in concepts, practices, procedures, and codes/ standards/ guides relating to FRCM.
- 1 Year R&D experience with FRP products (preferred).
- Communication: Communicate verbally in an appropriate way for the audience he/she is speaking to. Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, and other groups. The role will require presentations to small and large virtual and in-person groups.
- Customer focus: Quickly and effectively solve customer problems and maintain productive internal and external customer relationships. Readily adjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.
- Teamwork: Maintain a collaborative approach in dealing with other Simpson Strong-Tie and our client’s employees. Demonstrate a genuine commitment to reach mutually beneficial solutions.
- Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as architectural and structural plans, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Team Player: Demonstrated ability to motivate and work with team members. Must be able to connect, interface, and communicate well with a variety of internal partners such as sales, marketing, and product development.
- Driving record: Possess and maintain a driving record which complies with company policy.
- Travel: Travel away from home with occasional overnight stays.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in both a professional office environment, customer sites and outdoor construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.
TRAVEL
This position requires domestic and international travel up to 30% of the time.
WORK STATUS & LOCATION
This full-time, exempt position is located in Southern California.
RELOCATION
Relocation may be considered for this position.
Pay
$88,100 - $141,000 / year
