We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Surveying Technician specializing in Construction Staking to join our team. The successful candidate will be actively in the field, ensuring accurate and precise measurements for construction projects. This is a practical role that requires extensive experience with surveying instruments, data analysis, and collaboration with project teams to execute construction staking activities on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Perform field surveys and physically mark precise locations for construction staking.
- Operate and maintain surveying instruments such as total stations, robotic instruments, GPS/GNSS receivers, and data collectors.
- Work directly under the direction of the Project Surveyor to interpret construction plans, blueprints, and staking requirements.
- Clearly mark and set reference points, stakes, and grades to accurately guide construction crews.
- Routinely verify the accuracy and completeness of your own survey data before providing it to the project team.
- Assist in the preparation of survey reports and documentation based on field findings.
- Conduct quality control checks on staking work to uphold our rigorous accuracy standards in the field.
- Apply practical knowledge of industry best practices and technologies on active job sites.
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Associate degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field is preferred, but not required for candidates with significant demonstrated hands-on experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Surveying Technician, with a proven focus on construction staking.
- Proven, daily proficiency in operating and troubleshooting specific instruments (e.g., Trimble, Leica, or Topcon total stations & GPS).
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills applied in a field environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to effectively coordinate with crew and project managers.
- Must be detail-oriented, physically able to work outdoors in all conditions, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to quickly read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications on-site.
