What You Will Do
Step into a pivotal role where your designs shape our final product quality and success. As a PCB Designer, you will architect high-quality, multilayer circuit boards featuring high pin count and fine pitch components, the technical backbone of our cutting-edge positioning products. This highly visible role demands considerable judgment and initiative, requiring you to collaborate seamlessly with R&D, Operations, Manufacturing, and external fabricators to ensure not only innovation but also reliable manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Design high-quality, multilayer RF and High-Speed digital PCBs, including HDI and standard mechanical-drill designs.
- Apply expertise in high-speed design principles, grounding, impedance control, and stack-up optimization.
- Create and manage constraints based on schematics, design rules, and mechanical specifications.
- Incorporate continuous improvements for Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) throughout the product lifecycle.
- Create, edit, and audit component footprints.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project specifications and ensure PCBA designs meet overall product requirements.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and solve complex PCB engineering problems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to peers and promote best-in-class (BiC) design practices across the global team.
- Maintain and contribute to the development of design tools.
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
- Bachelor of Science in Electronics or appropriate educational credentials.
- Minimum of four years of relevant professional PCB design experience.
- Proficiency in Cadence Allegro 23.1 or newer.
- Expertise in a wide range of PCB and circuit technologies including RF, High-Speed, Analog, Digital, Power Supply Units (PSU), and Flex technologies.
- Deep understanding of high-volume design principles, embedded DFM, and relevant IPC standards.
- Experience with Design for EMC and safety requirements.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a multi-functional team.
- Highly analytical, self-motivated, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Experience with Skill programming language.
- Experience with mechanical design integration.
- Working knowledge of relevant IPC standards.
- Self-motivated, with a strong focus on results.
- Ability to work independently or as an effective team member.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Trimble's Sunnyvale, California, office holds a critical strategic and historical position within the company, despite the corporate headquarters officially relocating to Westminster, Colorado, in October 2022. About Trimble’s Corporate Manufacturing Team
The focus of Trimble's corporate manufacturing is on maintaining proprietary technologies and processes in-house, viewing its engineers as the "soul and incarnation of [its] competitive edge". The PCB Designer team is therefore a core, highly valued function responsible for designing the GNSS receivers, scanners, total stations, and laser rangefinders that are the backbone of Trimble's geospatial, construction, and transportation solutions.
Compensation: Trimble provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full time schedule. Trimble reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
