The Operations & Safety Coordinator supports the daily operational and safety functions of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA). This role is responsible for ensuring that organizational facilities, IT systems, and safety processes run smoothly, effectively, and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Cal-OSHA standards. The coordinator also assists with general facility upkeep and maintenance, requiring the ability to work with tools and perform basic repairs. This position helps create and maintain safe, efficient, and well-managed work environments that enable staff, volunteers, and partners to focus on Habitat’s mission.
- Assist in implementing occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
- Support compliance efforts with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, maintain safety documentation, and support emergency preparedness.
Incident and Report Support
- Track and maintain accident and incident reports
- Assist with OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
- Safety Awareness and Prevention
- Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce workplace injuries, accidents, and health hazards.
- Support administrative tasks for safety training and awareness initiatives.
- Administrative and Operational Support
- Oversee routine facility needs across offices, ReStores, and construction sites, performing basic maintenance and coordinating with vendors for larger projects
- Monitor building systems such as HVAC, lighting, and IT to ensure smooth operations. Serve as a liaison to the IT team or vendors for tech-related support.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, and general upkeep.
- Provide general support to the Operations team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, background check, 75 lb. lift test, and driving record check
- Must have access to reliable transportation to perform job duties, a valid CA Driver’s License, and meet the state required amount of personal automobile liability insurance
- Experience in operations, safety coordination, or administrative support (nonprofit or construction environment a plus)
- Basic understanding of safety regulations, including OSHA and Cal-OSHA standards
- Strong organizational skills to track incidents, maintain records, and support compliance documentation
- Problem-solving skills to support operational and safety needs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn other software tools
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members across departments
- Frequently, it is required to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. alone, team lift 100 lbs.
- Frequent movement around the office/warehouse/ReStore may be necessary.
- Regular work with computers, including keyboards, mouses, and screens.
- Working conditions consist of high temperature-controlled workspaces.
- Noise levels are moderate to loud depending on the work area.

Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00
Salary offers are based on several factors, including job-related knowledge, experience, and qualifications. They range from entry to mid-level.
