Job Description
English/ELA/ESL Teacher
JOB PURPOSE:
The duties of an English language teacher include creating lesson plans, preparing classroom activities, organizing teaching materials, evaluating student performance, maintaining classroom records, meeting with parents, teachers, and other professionals, and participating in campus events
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a major or minor in English or Education.
2. Successful Clearance of FBI and DOJ Background Check
3. Two letters of recommendation that have been written within the past year (one of these letters should be from your current supervisor or immediate preceding supervisor)
4. Current CPR certification and TB test
REPORTS TO:
School Principal/Administrator
JOBS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan, program, and teach Spanish in alignment with the high curricular objectives.
2. Participates in a cooperative effort with faculty and staff to plan, implement and evaluate programs of
continuing school improvement.
3. Plans instruction, sets goals and implements the specified curriculum
4. Assist all students in achieving academic standards and establishing high expectations.
5. Works with students, instructional teams, parents and administrators to develop individual learning
plans, independent study programs and academic remediation processes.
6. Participate in training programs and apply concepts learned in the classroom to increase student
learning.
7. Utilizes classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate.
8. Maintains complete and accurate student academic and disciplinary records.
9. Shows sensitivity to students, parents and the community and promotes student self-esteem.
10. Maintains professional relationships between school and parents.
11. Maintains contact with parents through parent-teacher conferences, telephone, or written
communications.
12. Integrate the use of technology and multimedia in the classroom.

Student Progress
Gathers, stores, and monitors data related to student learning for use in assessing progress toward achieving the instructional objectives; follows grading policies and regulations; maintains accurate and complete student records; monitors and evaluates student progress; provides feedback on student work; monitors student attendance.
Communication
Communicates regularly and effectively with students, co-workers, parents/guarding, and the community, and exhibits appropriate interactive skills; follow confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guarding, and fellow staff.

Demonstrates behavior that reflects established professional responsibilities (i.e. attendance, punctuality and verbal/nonverbal communication); adheres to established laws, policies, rules and regulations; interacts appropriately with students, other educational personnel, and parents; participates in activities that foster professional growth.
Physical Working Environment
The position is in a school building, which may be air-conditioned and heated. May be exposed to prolonged noise or weather. Must be able to climb stairs and sit for extended periods of time.

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
