Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Electrical Journey Lineworker is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems to ensure safe and reliable power delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical lines, substations, transformers, switches, cables, streetlights, and related equipment.
- Perform pole climbing, equipment installation, cable termination, and energized (“hot line”) work while following proper safety procedures and utilizing appropriate tools.
- Troubleshoot outages, test electrical systems, restore service, and support both planned and emergency operations.
- Conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades to maintain system reliability.
- Operate tools, machinery, and heavy equipment while performing physically demanding tasks in various environmental conditions.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and procedures, complete required documentation, and assist with traffic control and system switching activities.
- Provide guidance and training to apprentices as needed and coordinate effectively with internal teams and the public.
Qualifications
- Journey-level Electrical Lineworker certification with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical transmission and distribution systems, OSHA and NEC safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Valid Class A or Class B driver’s license required.
- Relevant safety certifications such as HAZWOPER and CPR/First Aid preferred or required.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
