Field Applications Engineer
Job Description
oneNav, a pioneering startup in the GNSS industry, is seeking an experienced Field Application Engineer to join our technical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RF and GNSS technologies, enjoy collaborating with customers, and be able to provide valuable feedback to the development team.

Responsibilities
- Act as a primary technical interface for customers, with the goal of addressing more than half of their questions independently with clear, effective communication. Bridge the gap between the customer users and the oneNav development teams by managing product integrations and solving complex test and use issues.
- Apply expertise in RF and GNSS technologies to solve technical challenges and optimize system performance. Diagnose, debug, and resolve complex hardware and/or software issues on-site or remotely.
- Partner with business development team to understand customer needs, conduct product demonstrations, and pitch technical solutions.
- Assist customers in successfully installing, integrating, and testing products within their test environment and end use systems. Authorship of test setups and plans, as well as resolution of their test issues.
- Instruct clients on how to utilize products efficiently and produce training materials or documentation. Develop, write, and maintain Knowledge Base articles to support customer needs and internal documentation.
- Manage projects and tasks efficiently to ensure timely completion and high-quality outcomes.
- Build, test, and debug Evaluation Kits (EVKs) in the oneNav lab, demonstrating a strong hands-on approach to system analysis and troubleshooting. Manage associated EVK build materials and customer-related EVK inventory.
- Provide periodic reporting of customer technical activities, issues, and company actions that have been taken in support.
- Relay critical client feedback and performance data back to the company’s internal product and R&D teams.
- Experience with tools and CRM platforms to track customer interactions and maintain accurate records.
- Utilize engineering collaboration tools such as SharePoint, JIRA, Teams, and others to coordinate activities and share information across teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in customer engineering or field applications engineering with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE).
- Strong customer communication skills and enthusiasm for engaging with clients. Ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical clients and business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong analytical abilities to diagnose and fix technical issues.
- Hands-on experience with lab work, system testing, and debugging.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Expertise in RF and GNSS systems.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, and other engineering scripting tools desired.
- Proficiency with SharePoint, JIRA, Teams, and other collaboration tools.
- Ability to support reasonable level of travel in support of pre-sales and post-sales customer activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GNSS receiver technology.
- Experience with Altium or similar schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Understanding of RF receiver impairments (phase noise, nonlinearity, IQ imbalance, etc.)
- Experience with RF performance modeling using standard (e.g. Keysight ADS) or custom tools.
- Antenna design experience using state-of-the-art simulation tools (e.g., HFSS).
- Experience designing high-signal-integrity microwave modules or PCBs.
- Familiarity with Xilinx FPGA development tools (XSDK, Vitis).
- Experience in development and manufacturing of high-volume mobile, wireless, wearable, or IoT applications.
