Role Description The Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Mount Dora, FL, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, and sourcing pricing from subcontractors and suppliers. The Estimator will analyze labor, material, and equipment costs, prepare bid proposals, and assist in value engineering to support project feasibility and profitability. This role collaborates closely with project managers, superintendents, and leadership to refine budgets, update estimates as designs evolve, and support preconstruction planning. The Estimator also maintains historical cost data, tracks market trends, and contributes to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
Qualifications
- Strong estimating and cost analysis skills for commercial construction projects, including quantity takeoffs and budget development.
- Proficiency with construction estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital plan review tools.
- Solid understanding of construction means and methods, building materials, and subcontractor scopes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and project specifications.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project teams, trade partners, and clients.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Relevant experience as an Estimator or in preconstruction, project management, or field operations in commercial construction.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Knowledge of Central Florida construction market conditions and local subcontractor base is a plus.
