The Sales Trainer will be responsible for executing and driving sales initiatives as well as developing and implementing training strategies. They will be an ambassador of the brand. The ability to build relationships and educate sales associates will be instrumental in terms of “moving the needle” in a positive direction.
This role is based in Sacramento or San Francisco, CA and focuses (but does not limit) travel to the surrounding regional trade areas with a concentration on existing retail partners. (All travel expenses are reimbursed by the Company.) Most travel is done by vehicle, with occasional flight and overnight stays required depending on the initiative at hand. Much of the training & face-to-face interaction with the retailer occurs at the store level. Larger training/sales meetings may take place at alternative venues.
KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with customers/store locations to ensure in-store marketing is executed correctly and that all point of purchase material is available and in use.
- Act as a liaison to the Company's merchandising team by evaluating the condition & quality of the Company's products used by the customer, reporting those findings directly to the supervisor, and prescribing any changes/replacements that may be necessary.
- Lead the customer account planning cycle and develop strategic short- and long-term plans that will help to achieve forecasted sales goals.
- Coordinate with the customer and with the Company's training department to build and implement training programs focused on product education, company history, unique selling propositions, features/benefits, and applicable sales strategies.
- Lead approved sales meetings monthly and interact with sales teams daily.
- Lead virtual training segments and communications with retailers through standard virtual meeting/collaboration platforms weekly/monthly.
- Work directly with customer service departments and operations teams in relation to product orders, lead times, and quality control.
- Build relationships with store managers, sales consultants, and key business leaders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- A four-year college degree is preferred; a two-year (Associates) degree is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in sales (any product/service category) is required.
- At least 2 years of experience training retail sales associates is strongly preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in the furniture/mattress industry (retail or wholesale) is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with standard office productivity and virtual meeting/collaboration software is required.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Excellent time management skills are required.
- The ability to work efficiently alone as well as in groups is required.
