On behalf of our Client we are recruiting for a Deputy Marine Operations Manager/ Pilot to support their Ross-shire based marine management operations on a permanent basis.
Reporting to the Marine Operations Manager, the successful post holder will be responsible for:
Planning the safe and expeditious berthing and departure of vessels
Assisting with the planning of new marine projects
Assisting with conservancy and environmental duties
Assisting with planning the safe and expeditious berthing or departure of vessels
Responsible for the safe piloting of vessels and structures into, out of and between locations
Responsible for passage planning of vessels in conjunction with the Master
Responsible for record keeping as required for the arrival, departure, shifting or piloting of vessels and conform to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Marine Safety Code
Responsible for the written reporting of all collisions, groundings, near misses and incidents
Responsible for reporting any navigational or equipment defects
Assisting with emergency operations and meeting company requirements under the Civil Contingencies Act
Working within the Marine Operations Department with planning, data gathering, policy review and updating procedures as required
Working with the Finance team to ensure billing information is accounted for and recorded accordingly
Working as part of the on-call rota to support the marine department/ pilotage
Maintaining such records and documentation as required to ensure company policies and practices are administered and maintained
Complying with HSEQ requirements
Participating as part of the out of hours emergency on-call system
Supporting the Marine Operations Manager and General Manager as required
In addition, they will be working towards Class 1 pilotage status, with a focus of the role on the pilotage aspect of the business.
Skills/ Competencies:
Essential:
OOW (STCW II/2 (Masters unlimited) Certificate of Competency - applicants with lesser qualifications may be considered based on relevant experience
Previous pilotage experience
Valid ENG1 (or equivalent)
Desirable:
Experience in Emergency planning - Exercise and Incident planning
MCA Oil Spill Contingency certification
Knowledge of management systems/ CRM/ SharePoint
Personal qualities/ attributes:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven people management experience
A great team player, being flexible and adaptable, paying attention to details, having drive and ambition.
