On behalf of our Client, a well-established energy company specialising in providing wind and solar power to industrial and commercial markets, we are looking to recruit a Business Accountant (part time 0.6-0.8 FTE ) to join their Inverness Team on a permanent basis.
The fundamental purpose of the Business Accountant is to support decision making through accurate management and statutory financial reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual), maintenance of key stakeholder relationships as a result of prompt invoicing and payment and supporting compliance with regulatory requirements.
The successful post holder will understand value chains and the importance of accurate, timely, and relevant analysis. They will also hold a broad knowledge of business controls and processes and can apply these independently, seeking support where required.
Key responsibilities:
Correct financial accounting and management accounting for the Profit and Loss statement and Balance Sheet (including explained analyses of fluctuations compared to previous period) both on IFRS basis and UK GAAP.
Monthly financial analysis of actuals vs budget and last year to drive performance of the business and challenge the asset managers.
Analysis of costs to support VFM and tracking business optimisation initiatives
Supporting preparation of the multi-year budgets
Providing monthly, quarterly and (h)year-end closings in close consultation with Financial Transactions, Financial Accounting, Business Control and Group Accounting
Running the payroll process, ensuring accuracy and that all necessary submissions are completed.
Assisting in all UK tax processes (including VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE)
Supporting efficient audits and timely filing of statutory accounts.
Stakeholder engagement - raising sales invoices, resolving payment issues, following up on invoicing of internal assets with trading partner
Skills/ Experience:
A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience; newly qualified candidates with 2-3 years of experience are encouraged to apply
Educated to bachelor level or through experience
Previous exposure to SAP S4H is not required however would be advantageous
Excellent organisational skills

Highly motivated
Team player who is also capable of working autonomously /independently within operational frameworks and general policies, whilst contributing to and thriving as part of several teams
Ability to multitask and prioritise; ability to change priorities quickly, critically appraise situations and provide constructive feedback
