ERP Specialist / Business Systems Analyst — Construction ERP (Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum)
Confidential search | Carson, CA — onsite preferred (hybrid 4 days onsite / 1 day remote)

$125,000 – $150,000 | Full-time | New seat
Own the construction ERP. Be the liaison the business actually calls.
HireDirectNow is running a confidential search for an ERP Specialist / Business Systems Analyst to administer Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum (Construction Software) for a PE-backed, multi-entity specialty contractor in Southern California.
This is a new seat. It exists because there is a real backlog and leadership needs a single in-house owner for Spectrum — not another ticket-taker, and not a strategy hire. You will be the internal Spectrum expert and the business liaison: review and validate requests, separate quick wins from real enhancements, build relationships with finance and operations, and keep leadership out of routine work.
If you have run Viewpoint (Spectrum preferred, senior Vista welcome) and you like being the person who understands both the tables and the field, this is built for you.
WHY THIS ROLE IS OPEN — AND WHY IT IS INTERESTING
• New position, not a backfill. You will define how the function works.
• Immediate work that matters: a Foundation-to-Spectrum data migration is targeted for late October / November 1. You need to think beyond the Spectrum screen — how data leaves Foundation, how it lands, and how job cost and security stay clean after.
• First 30 days have a clear mandate: assess security, run access audits, and set up security so users are assigned to the right groups and departments. Structure and cost centers are largely defined; you implement and tighten, with vendor input on the roadmap and train-the-trainer support you absorb in-house.
• After Level 1 / Level 2 triage, you escalate to IT leadership. You execute. They keep strategy.
• Multi-entity environment after growth and acquisitions — messy coding and inherited access are part of the job, not a surprise.
• Path at 12 months: self-managed, trusted by the business, backlog under control with IT leadership, lights-on work handled, security schemas solid, capacity to bring additional systems under the same discipline.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Day-to-day (this is the job)
• Provision and maintain Spectrum user accounts
• Design, audit, and maintain the security model — roles, module access, groups/departments, segregation of duties (Spectrum Security Scheme)
• Build and maintain ODBC extracts and data-exchange imports; monitor and fix errors
• Use ODBC / queries for reconciliations, cross-module and cross-table checks, reporting, troubleshooting, auditing, and trial-balance support
• Own the enhancement backlog with IT leadership — validate requests, ship low-hanging fruit, queue real development
• Triage tickets (Level 1 then Level 2); escalate with context, not noise
• Maintain SOPs and a knowledge base; become train-the-trainer as vendors roll off active work
Platform and liaison
• Support integrations to payroll, field service, procurement, timekeeping, and core integration partners — mapping, monitoring, security setup, and troubleshooting. You do not own the whole integration stack; you keep it stable and you are the internal point of contact.
• Validate labor cost, job-cost coding, and cross-module data integrity with finance and operations (including data validation tied to a recent acquisition)
• Build and maintain reports and dashboards (Spectrum reporting/BI, Crystal Reports, or Power BI via ODBC)
• Sit between field, finance, a knowledgeable corporate controller, and IT — translate what the business needs into configuration
Grow-into
• Module configuration (Job Cost, Payroll, AP/AR, Equipment, Service, Work Orders) as the business defines it
• Hands-on support on migration and integration projects: configuration, testing, data mapping, validation
• Over time, help bring adjacent business systems under the same ownership model — still execution-heavy, Spectrum-first
MUST-HAVES (please do not apply if these are not true)
1. 4+ years administering a construction ERP — not end-user use, not data entry, not generic IT.
Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum is strongly preferred. Senior Viewpoint Vista is welcome; Vista security, cost-center, and admin experience transfers, with a planned ramp onto Spectrum-specific mechanics (Security Scheme, Info Link/ODBC, data-exchange formats).
2. Demonstrated ownership of an ERP security model: roles, module access, segregation of duties. You have built or rebuilt this, not only requested access for others.
3. Hands-on ODBC and/or SQL extracts and structured imports. You have built them, watched them break, and fixed data flowing between tables and modules.
SQL and database structure (tables, views) is a strong asset — roughly 60–80% useful here — but this is not a back-end-only seat. Front-end Spectrum/Vista configuration, module work, and a few redesigns or implementations in your history matter. SQL-only with no ERP front end is likely too high a ramp.
4. Construction accounting fluency: job cost, WIP, AP/AR, and payroll — enough to validate coding and troubleshoot GL postings, payroll processing, and cross-module inconsistencies with finance and operations. Union / prevailing-wage / certified payroll is a plus, not a gate.
5. You can translate a business request into configuration and talk to the field, finance, and executives without two different stories. Pure ticket-takers and report-only analysts will not succeed here.
Titles are open. ERP Specialist, Spectrum Administrator, Vista Administrator, Construction ERP Administrator, ERP Systems Analyst, Viewpoint Administrator, Job Cost Systems Analyst, or Business Systems Analyst are all fine if the construction-ERP ownership is real.
WHAT WILL NOT BE A FIT
• Generic ERP only (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, ServiceNow) with no construction context
• Super-user or clerk experience with no security or configuration ownership
• Strategy-only / program-manager profiles who do not want to touch security, extracts, and tickets
• People who need the company name before they will talk — this search is confidential on purpose
LOCATION
Carson, California. Onsite preferred. Hybrid is 4 days onsite / 1 day remote. Fully remote is not the model for this seat.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Good-faith pay scale: $125,000 – $150,000
Benefits are a genuine selling point: medical, dental, 401(k), PTO, and 5 days sick time.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply on this posting or message HireDirectNow confidentially. Tell us which platform you have administered (Spectrum vs Vista vs other construction ERP), one example of a security model you owned, and one example of an ODBC/SQL extract or data-exchange job you built or repaired.
We are a Southern California contingent firm (pay-only-on-success). Your inquiry stays confidential. You will not be shopped.
Equal opportunity. Qualified applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
