Summary
The Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice is an entry-level position. The main duties of this position are to assist the upper-field employees and learn. The Trainees assist in the installation of fire protection systems. We highly recommend attending any or all training programs either held by Symons Fire Protection or outside sources. Having a go-getter attitude, good attendance, and the desire to grow is vital to the success of this position. [This position includes both Residential (plastic) systems and Commercial (steel) systems and can be alternated as needed.]
Duties And Responsibilities
- Use all required safety measures while installing fire safety systems.
- Wear all personal protective equipment such as glasses, gloves, hard hats, and vests.
- Assist journeyman and foreman in the installation of fire protection systems.
- Maintain proper documentation for work performed.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Carry/Move material and tools weighing up to 70lbs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Requires some physical stamina for tasks such as climbing, reaching, and bending.
- Reliable and predictable attendance is required for the function of this job.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Language Skills: This job requires that you can read, write, and speak English. It is required to have the ability to comprehend instructions, written correspondence, and read lists and reports.
- Computer Skills: This job requires the use of Paycom, Outlook, and BuilderTrend. Basic knowledge of mobile devices for communication.
- Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills are a necessity. The ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions delivered in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in unstandardized situations.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Blazemaster, OSHA 10, and CPR/First Aid training must be obtained within the first 3 months of employment.
