Job Title: Virtual Design and Construction Coordinator (Commercial Construction)
Location: Woodland Hills, CA (with travel to job sites and partner offices as necessary)
Overview
As a Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Coordinator, you will play a key role in the advancement and execution of Building Information Models (BIM) and related Virtual Design & Construction technologies. This position will support various departments, including Preconstruction, Construction Operations, and Consulting/Litigation Support Services. We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual who is eager to embrace new challenges and contribute to our innovative projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate 3D object-oriented models.
- Create 5D visual simulations that integrate BIM, time, and cost utilizing Navisworks or Synchro.
- Conduct clash detections to ensure design quality.
- Perform 3D scanning using Trimble 3D scanner and layout work with Trimble Robotic Total Station.
- Process job cost data alongside model-based quantity reports and scheduling information for project control and risk analysis.
- Produce formwork and concrete lift drawings for both horizontal and vertical control, along with general assembly drawings.
- Support Preconstruction and Business Development initiatives by generating photorealistic imagery through Artlantis and other rendering engines.
- Manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and PCOs.
- Process raw 3D point cloud scan files using software like Trimble REALWORKS, Scene, or Rythm to create registered files.
- Generate as-built models from scan files using software such as Trimble REALWORKS or TEKLA Structures.
- Convert and refine building model files or 3D scanned point clouds for rapid prototyping using Materialise Magics and SpaceClaim.
- Conduct constructibility and completeness reviews under supervision and manage RFIs accordingly.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in developing and coordinating 3D models.
- Experience with creating 5D visual simulations.
- Familiarity with clash detection processes and 3D scanning technologies.
- Strong capabilities in project document management.
- Excellent proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and BlueBeam.
- Strong organizational skills with a creative mindset.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a construction-related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 2 years in the building or design industry is preferred, but not mandatory.
- A solid understanding of VDC or BIM concepts.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling systems (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, TEKLA) is essential.
