Must have current certification as a Backflow Tester;
We need a go-getter who wants the hours, and is willing to work overtime when needed;

You should be mechanically inclined and skilled at troubleshooting and repairing;
You should have a current California driver's license and clean driving record;
Following instructions is a must. Some understanding of other trades is helpful but not required. There is some lifting, kneeling, squatting and working in difficult terrain, as well as the agility needed to work in awkward physical positions as part of the job.

We are looking for an individual who lives no more than 15 to 20 driving miles from our shop. Details of all benefits will be discussed during an interview.

Backflow Field Technician Job Description
The Field Technician is responsible to test, repair and install backflow prevention devices sized from 1/2" pipe diameter through 12" pipe diameter and to perform related tasks and duties. These tasks and duties are physically intensive and are performed in all seasons and weather conditions, during daytime and nighttime hours and upon rough and uneven terrain. Field Technicians are available for after-hours and weekend on-call service requests on a rotating basis according to schedule as determined by the Operations Manager. Duties include but are not limited to:
Review daily job schedule, specifications and drawings to determine work details and procedures.
Travel to assigned job locations, according to schedule and operational priorities, to perform necessary work.
Safely operate a motor vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions.
Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports. Properly complete backflow test report forms according to water district requirements.
Communicate with operations staff and front office staff by phone, email, SMS, and test forms and other appropriate methods.
Test backflow prevention assemblies according to required procedure using proper tools, gage and other equipment.
Diagnose and repair backflow prevention assemblies according to procedure and best practices using hand tools, pipe wrenches, limited power tools, lubricants and other tools, materials and equipment as necessary.
Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or crimping or soldering equipment.
Connect to aboveground and underground water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems.
Install theft deterrent devices including cages, valve guards, chains, locks, etc.
Remove and properly dispose of debris.
Prepare job bid surveys to facilitate the bidding process. Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
Monitor and maintain tools and inventory on service vehicle to ensure operational consistency.
Other duties as assigned and as dictated by need to accomplish mission.
